Haiti Program Files 1975-1980.

This series comprises records related to LCA mission involvement in Haiti. They were retained by the DWME and are from 1975-1980. Types of records include handwritten and typewritten business correspondence, meeting minutes, handwritten annotated meeting notes, reports for fact-finding trips to Haiti, and project applications and their accompanying materials. The bulk of these records is business correspondence authored by the Rev. William K. Harman, DWME Church Development Counselor and Secretaries for South America and the Caribbean, the Rev. Milton J. Olson and the Rev. James E. Henneberger. Correspondence provides an accounting of LCA efforts at mission work in Haiti. There are communications with the local group in Haiti with whom the LCA was working; communication to and from congregations interested in the situation in Haiti, and letters from ecumenical agencies with which the LCA was participating in Haiti development projects. In addition to the correspondence there are two files containing the projects through which the LCA provided assistance to Haiti. The Lutheran Leadership Program project was one to which the LCA provided a one-time grant at the end of its active involvement in Haiti work. This program was administered by the United Methodist Church and would train Lutheran leaders.
